Why We Built Yoyo

The Problem

We got tired of predatory pricing in the digital business card space. Services like Blinq advertise themselves as "free" but then charge $5 per badge scan, $5 per CRM export, and paywall basic features like analytics.

A freelancer attending 6 conferences per year can rack up $1,320 in fees. A sales team of 5 people? $30,000+ annually. For what? Scanning QR codes and exporting CSV files — features that should cost pennies to operate.

Meanwhile, recipients often need to download an app just to view your card. At events with older professionals or international attendees, this creates friction. People fall back to LinkedIn or manual contact exchange, defeating the entire purpose.

What We Believe

Digital business cards should be a utility, not a revenue extraction scheme. The core features — QR code sharing, contact exchange, card scanning — are solved problems. They don't require venture-scale costs to operate.

We believe:

• Pricing should be transparent. No credit systems, no surprise fees, no bait-and-switch tactics. Simple annual pricing for unlimited use.
• No app requirements. Your card should work for everyone — iPhone users, Android users, people with old phones, people in countries where your app isn't available.
• Two-way exchange. Networking is mutual. Both people should walk away with each other's contact, not just you broadcasting yours.
• Actually free tier. Not a "7-day trial" or "freemium with everything paywalled." A real free tier for people who scan fewer than 10 business cards per month.

How We Keep It Affordable

Yoyo runs on Cloudflare. We use serverless infrastructure that scales efficiently without massive overhead. No expensive servers sitting idle, no venture capital burn rate demanding aggressive monetization.

We charge $29/year for unlimited scans because that's what it actually costs to run — not because we need to satisfy investors with 10x growth targets.

Who We're For

Yoyo is for professionals who network regularly and are tired of getting nickel-and-dimed. Freelancers, consultants, sales reps, recruiters, real estate agents, startup founders.

If you attend conferences, trade shows, or networking events and collect business cards, Yoyo saves you hundreds to thousands of dollars per year compared to competitors.

What's Next

We're constantly adding features based on real networking needs:

• Live translation during international conferences (preview mode)
• AI-powered conversation briefs before events
• Bulk QR code generation for event booths
• Team management for enterprises

But we'll never add per-scan fees, credit systems, or app requirements. Those are anti-patterns that hurt users.
